A Day in the Life of a HVAC Service Professional

Morning Preparations

The day starts early at 6:00 AM when I check my service schedule for the day. After a quick energy-efficient breakfast, I ensure my service van is fully stocked with common parts and diagnostic tools. Working at Staab & Sons, Inc. means being prepared for anything, whether it’s a furnace replacement in West Mifflin or an emergency heating repair in South Park.

First Service Call

By 7:30 AM, I’m heading to my first appointment in Bethel Park. Today’s first call is a routine furnace service, which includes:

• Checking and cleaning the burners
• Inspecting heat exchangers
• Testing safety controls
• Changing air filters
• Calibrating the thermostat

Midday Emergency

Around noon, dispatch calls about an urgent heating repair in Carnegie. A family’s furnace stopped working, and with temperatures dropping, it’s crucial to get their system back online quickly. These situations remind me why preventative maintenance is so important.

Afternoon Schedule

The afternoon involves:
• Completing an AC service in Pittsburgh
• Providing an estimate for a furnace replacement
• Conducting a follow-up inspection from last week’s repair

End of Day

Before heading back to base, I ensure all paperwork is complete and my van is reorganized for tomorrow. Working in the HVAC industry means every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable year-round.

The satisfaction of solving problems and helping families maintain comfortable homes makes this career truly rewarding. Whether it’s in Pittsburgh or any of our service areas, being part of the Staab & Sons, Inc. team means delivering quality service that our customers can rely on.
